MSC-affiliated Marinvest has taken a 45% interest in Trieste Marine Terminal (TMT) the
Italian port of the same name. The Swiss giant is already the big-gest user
of the facility, so far fully-owned by T.O. Delta, a company of the local Maneschi
group. TMT is currently investing EUR 188 million (USD 210 mil-lion) in
doubling capacity to 1.2 million as a prerequisite for extending its concession
from 2031 to 2074.
PSA’s Voltri Terminal Europe (VTE) at Genoa has ordered four (25
across) StS container cranes from ZPMC at a total investment of EUR 80 million
(USD 89 million). The first cranes are slated for delivery in the first half of
2016, with the remaining two following by the end of that year.
The commissioning of two new 23-wide quay cranes at La Spezia
Container Terminal’s (LSCT) Fornelli East Quay, adding to two of 20
and three of 18-wide, allows the Contship Italia (Eurogate) facility to handle
the largest container ships. At Fornelli West, the terminal deploys four
20-wide and two 18-wide StS cranes.
